A sexual health literacy class was held for college students to prevent early pregnancy.

Currently, the topic of preventing early pregnancy among teenagers is one of the pressing issues. According to the WHO, one of the leading causes of child mortality is pregnancy termination and premature birth. Girls who become pregnant early lose their chance for education, distance themselves from society, and put their health at risk.

On October 17 of this year, at the Bopai Medical College, a meeting was held on the topic “Preventing Early Pregnancy and Educating Girls,” organized in collaboration with college nurse K. Bozhanova and the “Syrgalym” girls’ club, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and preventing early pregnancy.

The meeting featured obstetrician-gynecologist Gul’dana Kaïratqızı Abdesheva and psychologist Aïdana Esenkeldievna Oralbaeva from City Polyclinic No. 6 (@poliklinika6.aktobe), who delivered lectures.

During the meeting, first-year students were informed about the primary issue surrounding early pregnancy—which is the lack of education regarding sexual health—along with the consequences and future risks of early pregnancy. Questions such as “What is early pregnancy?”, “What are the consequences and harms of early pregnancy?”, “What are the dangers of early pregnancy?”, “How to raise girls and boys?”, as well as the legal repercussions of engaging underage adolescents in relationships and committing acts of violence were discussed, with answers provided by the specialist.
